This week we learned about writing an essay. The essays we wrote were about on whether we should have chocolate milk in school or not to have it. In DARE we learned about tobacco and we watched a video that showed us about alcohol advertisements. We also had a social studies test on Wednesday. We just started a new quarter. We were told that we will be having a new spelling program instead of SpellingCity. On Friday we saw our book buddies and we haven't seen them in about 2 weeks. The whole school had a band assembly on Thursday, and the 5th graders were shown and got to play some of the instruments that we could possibly play next year in middle school.
Sincerely, Sibntsib and Sydnee Although it was a short week with the snow day and delays, we still had a great week filled with lots of learning!
In Social Studies, we learned about life in Colonial Williamsburg. We explored different aspects of colonial life including school, careers, government, views on slavery, and entertainment. Ask your child about the fun we had at all of the different stations! Next week, we will complete our last station, and we will have our test on Chapter 9 on Wednesday. This week for writing our focus was on grammar. We practiced fixing up sentences to contain appropriate punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and use of dialogue. We also learned about introductory elements and how to use them when writing sentences. In Reading, we explored the genre of Science Fiction. We read a longer science fiction story and practiced writing a conclusion about characters' point of view based on textual evidence. This was a hard skill for us, but we did well with it! We had a few students turn in Reading Fundraiser forms! They received an emoji necklace. Fundraiser forms can still be turned in on Tuesday. The class with the most turned in has the opportunity to tour Lambeau Field! This week was the end of our second quarter. Report Cards will be sent home with students on Friday, January 27th. Have a wonderful weekend! -Ms. Weber Our class had art and we designed super heros for our school assembly on friday. We played mat kick ball in gym on thursday. In math class we learned about compatible numbers and we did division. Then our class took a science pre test on constellations. Today we took the real test for science and in math we finished our test. Today we have our assembly in the afternoon. On wednesday we started D.A.R.E and met a real cop. Our class had hot chocolate in the morning during our writing test. The assembly is about our art teacher husbands brother drawing comics for the hole school in the gym.
Sincerley; Yizong and Peyton Our pen pals wrote back. We started a new readers theatre, which was Ponce De Leon. Then we went to the dress rehearsal for the KIndergarten, First, Second, And Third graders. We took our social studies test.
-Brooklyn and Joseph. This nice week, we would like to tell you some things. First of all we went to to the School Forest. We slept there for two nights and during the day we did activities like feeding birds. We feed birds like chickadees and woodpeckers (all kinds). Then we did skits. The class mesured snow, wind chill and the subnivean tempiture in groups. Subnivean is the tempature in the ground. Did you know the subnivean tempature is warmer then the air we breath, because of the Earths core. Then after a while we ate dinner. Dinner was chatty and we wasted alot of food. There is a contest of which classroom had the least food wasted. Of coures since we wasted alot we lost the contest. We had 121 oz wasted food. The girls were the ECO Champs. We spent the last moments outside playing a survival game and looking at procupine dens. One night we also did owl calling and owl games.
